Seedy Sunday 2026
In collaboration with Nanaimo Community Gardens, this is a one-day community event to promote seed saving, local seed providers, and education on growing local. With an attendance of over 1400, free educational workshops focused on growing, and local vendors with information and products related to growing, eating and supporting local; this event helps support the community in a variety of ways.
Seedy Sunday 2026
Nanaimo Seedy Sunday 2026 was an incredible success. The March 1 event, hosted with Nanaimo Community Gardens, brought the community together in a welcoming space. We hosted over 1000 attendees and 90 vendors, as well as speakers and volunteers. This year saw exciting growth, with even more vendors in an expanded roomier layout. The addition of indoor seating and a food area invited connection and engagement.
2026 had a strong focus on student engagement. NDSS students prepared food and beverages, and student entrepreneurs showcased sustainability-focused products. Daniel, our UVic practicum student supported volunteer coordination and is producing a video on youth engagement in local food systems.
Workshops, a Kid Zone, and seed exchange made sure there was something for everyone. A huge shout out to our corporate sponsors: Cooperators Insurance and Panago. Seedy Sunday grows every year as a beloved annual celebration. A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, vendors, and community members—your support and energy makes this event possible and continues to help it thrive year after year.
