BC Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program

This program provides coupons for local farmer’s markets, increasing access to healthy, local food.

Nanaimo Foodshare Societys proud to be a community partner working with the BC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (BCFMNCP) in partnership with the Island Roots Market at Beban Park. This 16-week program offers eligible participants weekly coupons with a cash value of $27, to be spent at a local farmers market on fresh produce, eggs, meat, fish, cut herbs, dairy products and more.

To be eligible to access the program, someone in your household must be:

• A senior, have children under 19 at home, or be pregnant;
• Identify as having a low-income

In the 2024-25 fiscal year, this program provided $64,314 worth of coupons to low income families/seniors in the community. The coupons are spent with local farmers at the Island Roots Market and other local farmers markets.

BC Farmer’s Market Nutrition Coupon Program 2026 – Selection Update

Thank you to everyone who applied for the 2026 BC Farmer’s Market Nutrition Coupon Program through Nanaimo Foodshare.

We are pleased to share that the application review and selection process has now been completed. All qualified applicants were entered into a random draw, and 147 participants have been selected to receive coupons through the program.

Selected applicants have now been contacted by email. If you have been selected, please check your inbox (and junk/spam folder) for important program information.

We recognize that there was significant interest in this year’s program, and unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate all eligible applicants due to limited program capacity. The random draw process was used to ensure fairness and transparency for all qualified applicants.
