We are recruiting – Board of Directors

Are you passionate about building a stronger, more sustainable local food system? Do you believe in the power of community to create change? Nanaimo Foodshare Society is looking for dedicated and forward-thinking individuals to join our Board of Directors. Our Society connects people with the knowledge, resources, and skills to grow, share, and access healthy food to improve food security across the region. As a member of a governance board you’ll provide strategic leadership, oversight, andaccountability to help guide our organization in fulfilling its mission and values by working to develop and ensure alignment with internal board policy, and ensure compliance with regulating bodies. Our board members are ambassadors, and other activities include community/donor networking, representing Nanaimo Foodshare publicly and growing our engaged audience. We are currently seeking individuals who bring diverse perspectives and experiences to our team. Skills in board governance, human resources, strategic planning and legal systems are especially valuable. We are also looking to fill the key role of Board Secretary—an organized and detail-oriented individual who can help keep our board on track by managing
meetings, minutes, and documentation through our Google Drive.

Time commitment:
● Approximately 5-6 hours per month
● Board meetings every two months
● Participation in at least one committee
