Further to our May 31st announcement to you when we described the expansion of our team to create greater leadership capacity and to support the tremendous growth of our programs in recent years, we are pleased to introduce our new Executive Director who has officially begun her role as of September 7th.
Heather Kelm has over fourteen years of experience in the not for profit sector including direct programming, coordination and leadership roles. Her background is primarily working with children and families in remote communities. Heather’s past roles provided her opportunities to bring community partners together for opportunities to find collaborative solutions, build internal teams and create organizational sustainability.
Heather brings experience with strategic and operational planning, grants and funding both community and government, and sat as a member on the provincial board for the BC Council for Families. Heather’s roles have revolved around diversity, cultural awareness and inclusion.
Having grown up and attended university in Nanaimo, Heather is excited to return to her hometown to assume the role of ED for Nanaimo Foodshare.
The Leadership Team of Jen Cody – Director of Food and Nutrition Security, Chrys LoScerbo – Director of Food Skills, and Lisa Guizzo – Manager of Finance and Administration will report to Heather Kelm.
