Home Grown

Through skills training and group activities, with on-going support and paid work experience, we give youth the opportunity to find success in the workforce.

Home Grown is an agriculture- and food-based employment program for youth under the age of 30. The 16-week program consists of paid onsite training, workshops and certification training along with eight weeks of paid quality work experience in the community. Through skills training and group activities, with on-going support and paid work experience, we give youth the opportunity to find success in the workforce.

Eligibility:

The program is available to those who self-identify as:

  • vulnerable youth
  • having diverse abilities
  • low-income
  • in care or aging out of care.

Training opportunities may include:

  • Essential employment skills including interpersonal communication, conflict resolution and team building
  • Resume and cover letter writing
  • Interview skills
  • FoodSafe Level 1
  • Serving it Right
  • First Aid
  • WHMIS
  • Basic food preparation and safe food handling skills
  • Basic agriculture skills
