Summer Lunch Munch
For over a decade, the Summer Lunch Munch program has provided nutritional lunches to kids in Nanaimo's parks during the summer holidays.
Our community has one of the highest rates of child poverty in all of B.C.
During the summer, when school meal programs are not operating, Nanaimo Foodshare works hard to ensure that no child will go without.
The Summer Lunch Munch program has become a vital part of the lives of children in this community.
Our goal is to help these children meet one third of their daily nutritional requirements to ensure optimal health and growth.
Our program also provides children with nutritional education to help them make good choices that contribute to their health and well-being.
Every year, the “Summer Lunch Munch Crew” distributes about 7000 lunches over the summer season.
Your donations are welcome:
- Nutritious foods
- Gift certificates
- Products that can be used for fundraising.
Our success is largely due to the support of community members, service groups, and local businesses.
As child poverty increases, the need for our program increases.
This year, we need your support more than ever.
